Tax residency

Tax residency determines the country in which you are liable to tax on your worldwide income. In the Netherlands you are tax resident if you live here. Moving abroad does not automatically end Dutch tax residency: the Tax Authority looks at your actual place of residence and personal ties. When you emigrate, you file a final settlement return for the period you lived in the Netherlands.
