Sustainability claim

A sustainability claim is a statement by a business about the environmental friendliness or sustainability of a product, service or the business itself. Examples include terms such as 'green', 'eco', 'climate neutral' or 'environmentally friendly'. From 27 September 2026, such claims may only be used if they are demonstrably and verifiably substantiated. Vague or misleading claims are prohibited and can result in fines from the ACM.
