Tax allowances

Starter's allowance

The starter's allowance (startersaftrek) is an additional deduction on top of the self-employed deduction, available to new entrepreneurs in the first five years of their business. The amount is €2,123 per year and you may use it a maximum of three times. The Dutch government has announced plans to abolish the starter's allowance from 2027, though this is not yet law. Starting entrepreneurs should factor this potential change into their planning.
