Product liability

Product liability is the legal obligation of a manufacturer, importer or distributor to compensate damage suffered by a consumer as a result of a defect in their product. From 9 December 2026, the rules are extended: software, AI systems and digital products also fall under product liability. In addition, more parties in the supply chain can be held liable, including online platforms and logistics service providers.
