Debt capital

Debt capital (vreemd vermogen) is the portion of a business's financing that comes from third parties: bank loans, supplier credit, tax liabilities and other obligations. Unlike equity, debt must be repaid, usually with interest. On the balance sheet it appears on the liabilities side. A high debt-to-equity ratio signals greater financial risk.
