Cryptocurrency tax

Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are treated as assets in box 3 of Dutch income tax. You report the value in euros on the reference date of 1 January in your return. Mining income or trading as a professional activity may be taxed as income from other work or business profit instead. Keep a transaction log with purchase and sale prices, wallet addresses and dates.
